Dear Kindred,
I’m really thrilled to see so many players wanting to try out our game in Closed Alpha, which will launch on 2 July .
As our community brings together both veterans and new players into the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, I wanted to briefly summarise the concept of Bloodhunt and how the team at Sharkmob has incorporated various aspects of the Masquerade, adapting it to the actual game mechanics.
While Bloodhunt is a Battle Royale at its core, it also features unique aspects which reward strategic and thoughtful play.
First off, we have the Masquerade, which is a set of rules put in place by the powerful and controlling Camarilla sect composed of multiple Vampire clans. The main purpose of the Masquerade is to ensure that the existence of vampires remains a secret towards humanity.
If a vampire is caught breaking these rules, harsh penalties are often handed out to the offender.
In our game, a treacherous betrayal by the Anarch sect has stirred up a war amongst the vampires, who are also being targeted for annihilation by a secret society known as the Entity.
As the player, you will be representing one of the three clans that we currently have selectable: Toreador, Nosferatu or Brujah. The foes that you will be facing will be represented by The Anarchs, which is a movement that rejects the powerful influence of the Camarilla sect.
In other words, you and your Coterie will appear as Camarilla, but opposing players will appear as Anarchs for you.
The Entity is part of a movement called the Second Inquisition; human vampire hunters seeking to uncover the truth and destroy this threat to mankind.
They are heavily armed experts in the extermination of vampires and are using their political influence to cleanse the locked-down area of Prague, where our game takes place.
While most mortals have been evacuated, some are still trapped within the cordoned off area, where, according to official channels, government forces are intervening against an ongoing terrorist attack. This forces the vampires to still respect the rules of the Masquerade while fighting for their unlives.
If the rules are broken, a Bloodhunt is called upon the offending vampires, making them an easy target. Offenders’ whereabouts will become traceable, and others will be encouraged to bring them to their final death.
While breaking the Masquerade may seem advantageous at times, it comes at a high cost. You will need to be strategic and cunning to outsmart your fellow Kindred.
