Crossplay in Bloodhunt

Crossplay in Bloodhunt

Introducing crossplay!

With Bloodhunt releasing on PS5™, we’ve seen feedback that you want to get more details about crossplay in the game. In this article, we want to address the most important questions and expand on what you can expect from this feature.

What is crossplay?

Crossplay is the ability to play with players from another platform different from your own. This feature enables a PC player to encounter a PlayStation® player in their session and vice versa, even though they use different platforms.

This allows for a unified player base and effectively faster matchmaking.

Crossplay in Bloodhunt - how does it work?

Crossplay in Bloodhunt only happens as you enter the Prague map, where the matches take place. This means that you can encounter players from other platforms once a match starts.

The Elysium (our game lobby) is platform specific, so you cannot group up with players from other platforms while you are in the Elysium. You can, however, fight them once you have entered Prague.

Disabling crossplay

Disabling crossplay is available in the options menu on PS5™. If you do this, you will only encounter players from your own platform. This option only exists on the PS5™ to be compliant with the technical regulations and requirements. The PC version does not support disabling crossplay.

Please keep in mind that disabling crossplay may lead to slow matchmaking times. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you play with crossplay enabled.

How about cross progression?

While your Sharkmob account can be used on both platforms, the progress and achievements/trophies on each platform are individual. The same is true for the level of your archetypes, customization, and quest progress. This also means that unlocked items, quest rewards, purchased cosmetics or tokens are also individual per platform and cannot be transferred.

Bloodhunt does not have cross progression at this time.

Balancing crossplay and the benefits

With the improvements that we have done for gamepad support, we hope that the balance between the two input methods are closer to each other. We will evaluate and keep tweaking the settings based on your feedback and the data that we see.

Crossplay will also allow us to essentially expand the player base further especially in regions where we have seen a lower player population in the past. More players also mean a higher chance of adding more game modes in the future, as those additions are dependent on a large number of concurrent players.

We hope that this article gave you a good insight into the functionality and we are very excited to see what this feature will bring in terms of improving the player experience and matchmaking times.

We can't wait to see you face Anarchs from other platforms, and of course, as always, let us know what you think!

Until next time, see you at dusk!
